Custom Orders
You may custom order something that you like and have it made from scratch completely to fit your needs, including colors, etc. This may include ordering for instance: a couple of pillow covers (I only offer these with custom orders), a table runner, and a wall or table quilt that all match in design and color (some designs I do not offer all these options with). I will communicate with you through emails until we are mutually satisfied regarding the order. You will approve fabric colors, design, etc. within reason (if I feel as a designer that a choice you are making will not work well with other colors or designs, I may make suggestions). After signing the okay to go ahead, and after payment has been made I will then start on your order, when it comes to the front of the line. You will be kept informed as to what the status is periodically. Custom orders are NOT refundable. This process may take several weeks depending upon backlog, and design choices. Some designs require a great deal more work than others. To order just email me at ronda@rwquilts.com.
About My Products
Every Quilt I sell has been carefully crafted with 100% high quality cotton fabrics, often using Thimbleberries. The tops are sewn together by machine using cotton threads. I use a mat board and rotary cutter to cut my fabrics accurately. I machine quilt the tops using monofilament thread on top and the cotton thread on the bottom. This gives great durability to the finished quilts! The only batting I use is ‘Warm & Natural,’ which is a very dense but thin batting. It’s absolutely the very highest quality batting you can buy, which is why it also usually costs the most. I use a good quality of muslin to back the quilts (occasionally I will use matching or coordinating quilting fabrics).
Every quilt I make takes a good deal of time. More often than not, I design my own rather than use others’ designs, although I do like to incorporate traditional quilt patterns in my designs. Very often I like to use Paper Piecing Methods and patterns (many that I have designed myself) in my quilts. This allows me to create more intricate patterns with greater accuracy. Although mini quilts take less fabric, they are, in many cases, more difficult to sew because of the smaller size of the blocks.
The rule is: the bigger the block is, the easier it is to sew…the smaller the block, the harder to sew. This is because, with the smaller block, there is less room for mistakes and inaccuracies in sewing. In short…not as much room for error! Each quilt is then stretched out and sandwiched together and I personally machine quilt them, one at a time. Depending upon the quilting details and design, this too takes a good deal of time. I then machine sew the binding to the front of the quilt and hand stitch it to the back with small appliqué stitches.
Every quilt has a two inch sleeve sewn on the back for hanging (except table runners) and has been carefully machine quilted and bound with great attention to the details! I am a perfectionist and will never knowingly sell an inferior product!
